The Door Within by Wayne Thomas Batson

This follows the story of Aidan Thomas, as he struggles in his new school. When he discovers three mysterious scrolls, Aidan sets out on an adventure between good and evil. Will he risk all for the one and only king?

This is a really good book. The story is an interesting one. My one complaint is that it does drag out in parts, but apart that I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

The Babysitter’s Club Series by Ann M. Martin

This follows the story of Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, Stacey, Dawn, Mallory, Jessi, Abbey, Logan and Shannon. These friends run a Babysitter’s Club in their local town and each story tells of a different character as they have their own struggles and look to each for help.

This is a oldie but a classic. It is such a good series. The characters are so interesting and likeable. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

The Martain by Andy Weir

Mark Watney is an astronaut, who has been stranded on Mars. If he doesn’t get in contact with Hesuton, he will die of hunger, or suffocate. Either way, he’s screwed.

This is one of the best sci-fi I have read. It has quite a lot in it, humour, science and will or won’t he get home in it. The funny thing is I wasn’t going to read this, but my book club suggested it and I thought ah well. And I am so glad I did. I have to admit the science bits of the book go over my head completely, but apart from that it is well worth reading. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

Harry Potter

So I have a big announcement. Next I am going to HOGWARTS. Yes, right I am going to London to visit the world of Harry Potter. I am so excited. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I cannot wait.

So, for the Bank Holiday weekend I will be things a little different. I will be including a lot of photos and I will possibly have a few videos up too.

Yay, I am so excited. Can’t believe I am going. I am re-reading the books and watching the movies, so that I can refresh my memory of that world.

Anyways just wanted to say that. Thanks for reading.

A Man Called Ove by Fredik Backman

A grumpy yet loveable old man finds his world turned upside down when a boisterous young family move next door.

This is such a good book. My only complaint is that is a little slow to get into, but apart from that it is well worth reading. Ove is such a grumpy man, who really does mean well. Just a word of warning, be prepared for tears. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

Secret Saracment by Sherryal  Jordan

Gabriel is no ordinary boy. He wants to help others instead of following in his fathers footsteps of being a respected merchant. As a result,he becomes a healer. Against his wishes, he becomes involved in the political struggles of a corrupt Empire. His decision to hold true to his destiny is one that will cost him dearly and that will threaten the Empire.

This is a really good book, with interesting characters. I love the story and the way Gabriel is able to overcome quite a lot to get what wants. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

The Navigation of Feeling by William Reddy

In this book, Reddy looks at the history of the emotion and includes research from various anthropological and psychology sources. Exploring the links between emotion and cognition, culture and emotional expression applies the theory of emotion to the processes of history. He demonstrates how emotions change over time and how they have a very important impact on the course of events and how different social orders, such as Revolutionary France, either facilitie or constrain emotional life.

This is such an interesting book, mainly as you don’t realise how emotion can affect history. The way we see or even handle various events in our life affect the way we see the world. Even our cultural background has such a big impact on us that we often overlook it. As a result, when we look at history all of this looks back. And we can see that history is sometimes people reacting to people. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

Miss Concieved by Emma Hannagian

This tells the story of Angie Breen, Ruby White and Serena Doyle as each have secrets and struggle with childbirth.

This is such a good book. I love how Hannagian is able to bring together all the characters and the story. I have to do feel sorry for Ruby, as it seems that everything seems so out of control for her. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

Solo by Jill Mansell

When Tessa Duvell, a struggling artist, reluctantly agreed to accompany her best friend, Holly, to a party, she has every intention of sneaking off early. She is normally bored in these kinda events, until she meets Ross Monagan, who had a wicked reputation and while Holly goes after his reluctant brother, Max, Tessa accepts Ross for what he is, a one night stand. That is until she realises that one night stands can have far reaching consequences.

This is not a bad book. It would be perfect for your holiday read. Jill Mansell is a really good author, whose writing style is so easy to read.  I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.

Storm Front by Jim Butcher

Harry Dresden is no ordinary P.I. He is a wizard P.I.  He is hired by Monica, whose husband is acting oddly. Later that day he is contacted by Lietuant Karrin Mills, about a really odd murder. Things only go from bad to worse for Dresden as he looks into Monica’s husband and the murder.

This is such a good book. I love the use of magic within the everyday world. Dresden is one those guys that seems to have all the bad luck, but with the best of intentions. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it.
